The Methodology section of the research proposal describes in detail the procedures that the researcher proposes to use to carry out the proposed study. The subsections included in the methodology section of a research proposal will reflect the type of study being proposed. The following subsections are typical: (1) Introduction; (2) Research Design; (3) Participants; (4) Instruments (or Instrumentation); (5) Treatment (only in experimental studies); (6) Data Collection Procedures; (7) Data Analysis Procedures; and (8) Limitations of the Study. In a dissertation proposal, this section is the third chapter of the research report.
